Mine development involves all the
operations in preparing the extraction of mineral from ore
The extraction of mineral from ore takes
place by two stages
·
Development
·
Stoping
Development
involves the driving of series of narrow headings in the ore parallel to each
other and connected by a cross heading so as to form pillars for subsequent
extraction
Pillars should be square shaped
Some times rectangular or rhombus shaped
The roads surrounding the pillars are
invariably of square cross section
The ore
is developed along dip or rise or strike direction by driving levels,or
cross cuts winzes and raises
The
operations involved in development are
1. Entry
in to deposit
2.
Driving vertical, slope, horizontal roads in to deposit there by deposit
developed up to the boundary by division of ore in to blocks , pillars in panels or without panels
3. By
driving roads results the formation of blocks or pillars of ore
4. Arrangement for power, substations
from entrance to working spot
5. Arrangements
for transport for materials, drawing out puts
6. Arrangement
of ventilation to workings, installation of fans at surface or under ground
, construction of ventilation devices
for flow of intake and return air
7. Arragements
of sumps for storing water, installation of pumps and pipe ranges for removal
of water form under ground to surface
8.Arragement of drinking water supply to
workers
9.Strata supporting with necessary supports
10.Arrangement of
Shaft stations
Rest stations
First aid stations
Reserve stations
Charging stations
Relighting stations
